Rehman Malik for beefing up Parliament security

ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik has said that the security of the parliament was the prime concern of the security agencies of the country and concerned departments have taken various steps in this regard. He said that bolstering the security there was need for redesigning, restructuring and improvement of the certain points.

The Adviser said that there was need to revise SOP, increased the number of security staff and updating jammers in Parliament House. He proposed formation of committee comprising of Secretary National Assembly , Secretary Senate and the senior officers from the both the Secretariats and Police Department to review the security measures in the Parliament House and give its recommendations within three days.

The adviser assured the speaker that funds for the implementation of the recommendations of the committee would be provided to the National Assembly Secretariat. The speaker expressed confidence and satisfaction over the security measures and assured the full cooperation of the parliamentarians in this regard. -SANA
