Tehreek-e-Kashmir demands Musharraf trail on U-turn in Kashmir

MANCHESTER: Tehreek-e-Kashmir-UK has demanded that Mushrraf’s unannounced compromise on Kashmir with India by retreating from UN resolutions on Kashmir should be made part of the charge sheet against him. “General Pervaiz Mushrraf’s stated willingness to set aside UN resolutions to solve Kashmir issue with India is amounting to retreat from world recognized legal position of Pakistan on the issue. The move on his part deprived the country of the vital support from the world community and our trusted friends” said Syed Munawar Hussain, Chief Patron of Tehreek-e-Kashmir.

He said during last five years of his rule, General Mushrraf yielded to the Indian demand of resolving Kashmir without reference to the UN resolution and accepted the Indian accusation of “terrorism” in occupied Kashmir in his meeting with then India Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on January 6, 2004.

The General, Munawar said also have given an undertaking to India in writing that Pakistani territory will not be allowed to be used against India in future. India interpreted the undertaking by Mushrraf as a proof that Pakistani soil was being used against India by “Kashmiri terrorist” in the past.

The chief patron said General Mushrraf also caused serious damage to national interest of Pakistan by proposing Kashmir’s division in seven regions and declared unilateral ceasefire along the Line of Control allowing India to erect an iron fence along the LoC, Mehshadi said.

The Mushrraf led regime also created a split in the All Parties Hurriyat Conference terming some of the Kashmiri leaders as moderate and others as radicals causing a serious dent in the unity of Kashmiri people that was vital for early success of Kashmir freedom movement, he added. He demanded that General Mushrraf who betrayed the blood of 85,000 Kashmiri martyrs to perpetuate his illegitimate rule should be made an example to learn the lesson from his fate.-SANA
