ISLAMABAD: On the directive of the Prime Minister, the Emergency Relief Cell of Cabinet Division dispatched 2,000 tents 2,000 blankets and 4,000 plastic masts to Government of Punjab and 4,000 tents, 3,000 blankets and 8,000 plastic mats to Government of NWFP for distribution amongst the affected people to alleviate their sufferings.
The relief goods will be distributed by the concerned DCOs under supervision of the Provincial Relief Commissioners. The Prime Minister has detailed his own Helicopter to assist the Punjab Government in relief and rescue operations. This Helicopter carried 4200 Kg of relief goods on 8th August, and has undertaking four sorties on the morning of 9th August, 2008. The Control Room of Emergency Relief Cell Cabinet Division is already working round the clock on the directions of the Prime Minister.
The Cabinet Division Emergency Relief Cell is in close liaison with Provincial Governments to monitor the flood situation and concerned agencies have been advised to take immediate action in the event of emergency situation. The Federal Government is fully committed to support the Provincial Governments and will continue provision of relief assistance for the affected people as soon as required.-SANA
