ISLAMABAD: The Senate Friday unanimously passed a bill to lift ban on trade union activities in Pakistan International Airlines Corporation (PIA). This is the first bill repealed by the Parliament, which was passed by the previous government in 2001.
Moved by Leader of the House, Mian Raza Rabbani, the bill to repeal Pakistan International Airline Corporation (Suspension of trade unions and existing agreements) order 2001 in order to lift ban on trade union activities in PIAC. The business of the House was suspended to pass the bill which was also endorsed by the opposition. Raza Rabbani lauded the role of the opposition for its positive role to pass the bill, adding that it is the right of the working class to get their issues resolved.-SANA
