Judiciary independence slogan of nation: Deposed CJ

SIALKOT: Deposed Chief Justice of Supreme Court, Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry Thursday said ‘independence of judiciary’ has become a slogan of lawyers, civil society and the media. Addressing lawyers telephonically here at District Bar Sialkot, he paid rich tributes to the lawyers who “rendered sacrifices of their lives, got injured and served in prison.”

He said there should not be any differences between Pakistan Bar Council and Punjab Bar Council. Lawyers must remain united to further the cause of independence of the judiciary, he stressed. Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry said in every era sees the birth of ‘Mir Sadiq’ and ‘Mir Jafar’ but “the thing of satisfaction is that no such person is amongst the lawyers.”-SANA
