SRINAGAR: The president of Mirwaiz faction of Hurriyat Conference for Kashmir province, Nayeem Ahmad Khan has announced a 25-point action plan for the institutionalization of Hurriyat Conference and urged all the leaders, activists and the people in general to make it successful. Nayeem Khan was addressing a conference of district councils from the Kashmir province. This is the first provincial level meeting of district councils after Khan assumed the charge of president for the province.
While dilating upon the reasons behind organizing the provincial-level conference, Khan told the delegates that Hurriyat Conference needs to be strengthened at all the levels. He said that there should be proper coordination between the people at village-level, block level, tehsil level, district level and the provincial level.
He said that each of the leaders, owing allegiance to Hurriyat Conference, and all the individuals associated with the Hurriyat, should give their best to strengthen the Hurriyat. Khan emphasized that the sacrifices made by the people of the state, should be respected and the resolution of the Kashmir issue should be sought as per the aspirations of the people of the state. He assured them that Hurriyat was working in this direction with all enthusiasm and added that there would be no going back on this front.
He appealed all those who were present on the occasion that they extend their full support to him for playing his role as per the responsibility assigned to him recently. On this occasion he announced the 25-point agenda for the institutionalization of Hurriyat Conference and appealed the delegates and the people in general to make this programme successful.
Other Hurriyat leaders also spoke on the occasion. Sheikh Abdul Aziz in his speech said that the solution of Kashmir issue needs to be hammered out as per the aspirations of the people of the state.ÿ All of them stressed the need to maintain coordination at all levels in order to strengthen the “freedom movement.”
The meeting of district councils from the Kashmir province can also be seen as an effort by Hurriyat to mobilize opinion against the assembly elections to be held in the state later this year. Meanwhile, a spokesman of Hurriyat Conference said that rich tributes were paid to Shaheed Maqbool Malik on his 16th martyrdom anniversary. The spokesman added that a seminar was organized on this occasion in the Town Hall of Anantnag for paying tributes to Shaheed Malik. Speaking on the occasion Prof Abdul Gani Bhat asked India to show flexibility for resolving the Kashmir issue.-SANA
