The Friends of Pakistan (FOP) have opened another chapter in Calgary, Canada and Mr. Burhan Khan will be the President of this chapter. Sarfaraz Khan, founder President of FOP here, announced this in Calgary on July 12th 2008 at Pakistan Community Center, Calgary, Canada.
He said, my visit is part of a global campaign in which we are demanding ‘Right of Vote’ for overseas Pakistanis to have this right to elect our representatives in overseas countries and we want to participate in nation building. He said, expatriates can provide a great help in Nation Building. We can provide assistance to motherland in various sectors, especially; we can raise remittances level, boost private investment, assist to open more schools and colleges, bring advance technology in agriculture, provide solution for power crises and provide help in IT industry.
Sarfaraz Khan said to achieve all this we must have representation in Pakistani Parliaments and Senate. I urge Pakistan government to consider seriously allocating seats for expatriates and fill up these seats through election in overseas countries. A large number of Pakistani Americans attended this event and they join this vibrant organization. After his speech he answered several questions asked by attendees.
FOP in Vancouver, Canada
Sarfaraz Khan the President of ‘Friends of Pakistan’ a global organization of overseas Pakistanis paid a brief but exciting visit to Vancouver, Canada on Sunday July 13th 2008. In his opening remarks at Pakistan House in Surrey, he emphasize that all Pakistani living abroad must participate in the political arena in Pakistan by sending their representatives in the Senate and the Parliaments of Pakistan from abroad. Sarfraz Khan said ‘we overseas Pakistani are major contributors of foreign exchange for Pakistan’ and he also encourage for more money to send to Pakistan through banks. He also explained his Nation Building Agenda and said FOP have designed this agenda to help poor people in Pakistan.
Sarfraz Khan announced the Vancouver Chapter office bearers of the Friends of Pakistan, Mr Liaqat Ali Bajwa was announced as Chief co-coordinator for entire Canada, Mr Sabir Ali Pannun Chairman Islamic Trust of Pakistan Canada Association was announced as the President of Friends of Pakistan, Mr Muhammad Irfan Malik as Vice President, Mr Afzal Bashir Bajwa as General Secretary and Mr Ihsan Malik also the past president Pakistan Canada Association as director public relation and media. Mr Liaqat Ali Bajwa a well-known community leader of Vancouver was highly appreciated Mr Sarfraz Khan.
