Complete peace restored in Bara: Rehman Malik

ISLAMABAD: Advisor on Interior Rehman Malik has said complete peace has been restored and people are happy while the tribal elders have given an undertaking for maintenance of peace and tranquility in Bara. Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Thursday, he said people and elected representatives from the area have welcomed the targeted action by the law enforcing agencies to restore peace in the sub-division of Khyber Agency.

The Advisor on Interior said twelve centres of militant leaders Inamdar, Mangal Bagh and Mahboob have been destroyed in Barala. He expressed the confidence that Mangal Bagh would not return to Bara. Rehman Malik said during tareted operations one hundred persons were arrested including 32 hard core militants. Deputy Commander of Taliban Muhammad Amjad has also been arrested.

He said Fasiullah, Bakhtravan and Zahir Shah have been arrested from Darra Adamkhel. He said four arrests were also made from Hangu and weapons and poisonous injections recovered from them. The Advisor expressed commitment of the Government not to show any leniency or flexibility against law-breakers and said they would be dealt with iron-hand. Replying to questions he said action in Bara was taken by the Federal Government with the assistance of the political administration while action in PATA areas was taken by the provincial Government. He said forces and logistic support was provided to the provincial government at its request.-SANA
