ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Dr. Fehmida Mirza has said country was ruled through ordinances and only forty eight laws were formulated during last five years. An Interview on Friday, the speaker noted that National Assembly session ran without quorum during last five years. She said that laws were formulated to keep away major political parties leaders from parliament in the previous government which was not an ideal situation for the democracy.
The speaker said that politicians and members of parliament were targeted through MPO in the past, adding that the government would review it. She suggested that all amendments against supremacy of parliament should be abolished.
She said there is no problem of quorum but it is a joint responsibly of government and opposition. The speaker said measure necessary to prevent way of army interference, adding that the army should play their role according to the constitution. She said that the constitution was repeatedly violated in the past and noted the crisis and problems as a result of violation of the constitution. She said that all institutions including President and parliament should work under the constitution and added there was no possibility of army interference as the people has become sentient.-SANA
