ISLAMABAD: The electronic and print media can play a pivotal role in furthering the existing Historical, fraternal and friendly relations between Pakistan and Malaysia. This was stated by the Minister of Information of Malaysia, Mr. Ahmad Shabery Cheek while talking to the High Commissioner for Pakistan, His Excellency, Lt. General (Retd) Tahir Mahmud Qazi, who called on him, in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.
Mr. Shabery Cheek said that Pakistan and Malaysia enjoy historical relationships and historical reasons to be always close to each other and to enhance these relationships, electronic and print media of both the countries can play a pivotal role. While stressing the need to enhance interaction and cooperation between Information Ministries and the media organizations of the two countries, he said, “Definitely we should have more meetings more rapport amongst the officers of the two Ministries and amongst the media persons as well”.
The High Commissioner, His Excellency, Lt. General (Retd) Tahir Mahmud Qazi congratulated the Minister for assuming the challenging charge of Ministry of Information of Malaysia and expressed the hope that during his tenure the relationship between the media organizations of the two countries will further improve. Mr. Qazi said that Malaysia being a tolerant, egalitarian, enlightened and modern society is a role model for Pakistan and entire Muslim world and Pakistan will like to learn from Malaysian experience in developing the tolerant society and making progress in economic, social, agriculture, financial, tourism and industrial fields.
Mr. Tahir Mahmud Qazi stressed the need for meaningful and result oriented cooperation between the news agencies of the two countries to provide holistic picture of development taking place in Pakistan and Malaysia to the people of both the countries and to minimize reliance on international news agencies who pursue their own agendas. -SANA
