Long march achieves its objectives: Aitzaz

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court Bar Association President Aitzaz Ahsan has termed lawyers’ long march as undiluted success. He said that holding sit-in is not an issue as any bar association or lawyers’ leadership had not decided it. Talking to a private TV channel he said I never said in my speeches that sit-in would be hold adding that some individuals talked about it. Aitzaz said that objective of the long march was mobilizing masses from Khyber to Karachi and to open eyes of Musharraf’s supporters that how much people hate him. He said that the objectives were achieved.

To a question he said that it would be a difficult situation for the lawyers if the deposed judges agreed to work together with the PCO judges. “However, I want to sift the movement into a broader shape as lawyers has become a power now. Justice never means ‘justice only in courts’. The movement would continue for social and political justice as we want to change the security state into a welfare state,” He said.

Pakistan Supreme court Bar Association president Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan has said endorsing Pervez Musharraf unconstitutional steps would be treason against the nation. He said this while talking to a lawyers’ delegation from Hasilpur on Friday. He said Pervez Muharraf has committed several crimes against democracy and giving indemnity to the steps he has taken would treason. On constitutional package he expressed his reservations. He said it is time to restore the judges adding that objective of the long march has been achieved as right message was conveyed.
He said that any sit-in may not have produced the results.-SANA
