ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the government would ensure that loadshedding is done judiciously and without discrimination in a manner that people in remote parts of the country do not unduly and unfairly suffer from it. The Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Water and Power to ensure that the burden of loadshedding is shared equitably and fairly by different parts of the country.
The Prime Minister was talking to a delegation of representatives belonging to different walks of life who called on him here at the Prime Minister’s House on Friday. The Prime Minister called upon the people to observe conservation measures and support government’s 100-day programme which focuses on better management of existing resources to overcome energy shortage in the country.
The Prime Minister said that the government is fully aware of the economic hardships being faced by the people and despite the unenviable condition of the economy has put in place several measures that would improve the lot of the common man and rid them of the wheat and electricity shortages.
The Prime Minister said that his government will accord full respect to the government servants and views them as employees of the government and not of any individual. He said that it will be his endeavor that civil servants with clean reputation and who are responsive to the needs of the people are posted in public-dealing jobs.
The Prime Minister also asked the civil servants to be proactive in resolving the problems of the people. Members of the delegation apprised the Prime Minister of various matters relating to their areas and said that people have high hopes from the government and are confident that their grievances would be redressed.-SANA
