VARMUL: Chairman Hurriyat conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani said Sunday that Pakistani rock band, Junoon, has come to the valley on “Indian agenda.” Geelani asked Pakistan government to ban such visits in future to Kashmir. “That band (Junoon) has come to the Valley to propagate India’s so called peace process and their performance in the valley will mislead the world that normalcy has returned to the Valley,” Geelani told media persons on the sideline of the Seerat conference here.
He said, “Mainstream political parties are a party to the Indian agenda to misled the outside world about Kashmir,” he said. He said seven lakh troops were present in the valley and people of Kashmir were “brutalized by them.” He said the government was neglecting the plight of the people of Kashmir who were “dying due to the atrocities committed upon them by Indian troops.”
Geelani accused India of trying to turn Muslim majority in Kashmir into a minority by strengthening the position of troops in the state. He said, “Earlier 75 acres of land were provided to every battalion of troops. However, now 150 acres are being provided to each battalion. By doing so India is trying to change the demography of Kashmir”. He appealed the people to boycott the election. “We don’t use force but we convince the people to boycott the election,” he said.-SANA
