ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League (N) Quaid Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that reconciliation among all political forces is essential to overcome the challenges confronting the country. Addressing a reception for Party workers in Islamabad he said that this reconciliation should be among the forces that have struggled and made sacrifices for the cause of democracy in the past eight years. He said that people on February 18 voted for a change in the country and they aspire to see this transition in the system at every cost. Mr. Nawaz Sharif said that we are in coalition for strengthening the democratic process and shall not let anyone de-stabilize the democratic system.
According to other news Former officers have urged President Pervez Musharraf to vacate the Army House. A meeting of the Ex-Servicemen Society here on Saturday demanded removal of President Musharraf from his office, restoration of the free judiciary and establishment of an independent election commission. Lt. Gen. (Rtd) Hameed Gul, Asad Durrani, Jamshed Gulzar Kayani, Taj Abbasi and other retired officers attended the meeting.
Addressing a press conference after the meeting former ISI chief Asad Durrani demanded restoration of the Nov. 2 judiciary. Criticizing the president he expressed solidarity with the lawyers’ movement. He also demanded trial and impeachment of President Musharraf. He said the ex-servicemen would resist if the president invoked Article 58-2-B. He also demanded democratic control of the armed forces.-SANA
