Glowing tributes paid to late Mirwaiz, Lone, Hawal martyrs

SRINAGAR: Various political organizations have paid glowing tributes to Shaheed-i-Milat, Mirwaiz Moulana Muhammad Farooq, Shaheed-i-Hurriyat, Abdul Gani Lone, and the martyrs of Hawal on their 18th martyrdom anniversary being observed on Wednesday. Paying rich tributes to Shaheed Maulana Muhammad Farooq and Shaheed Abdul Gani Lone, the Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani prayed for the peace to departed souls. Geelani said Shaheed Mirwaiz was a scion of the family whose forefathers had played a commendable role in spreading the message of Islam in Valley. “Shaheed Lone was brave and bold political leader who would say everything very openly without any fear. He was also a very hardworking leader who would visit far flung areas to encourage his party activists,” he said.

Geelani said that the situation in the state would not change until the Kashmir issue was resolved. Paying rich tributes to Shaheed-i-Milat, Shaheed-i-Hurriyat and martyrs of Hawal, the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) on Tuesday reiterated the pledge to take the martyrs’ mission to its logical end. In a statement today from Maqbool Mazil, the JKLF spokesman said Shaheed Mirwaiz’s religious services and his unforgettable role in the freedom movement would be long remembered. “The bravery, boldness and sincerity of Shaheed-i-Hurriyat as a political leader would be written in golden letters in the history of Kashmir.”

Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association, at a meeting held here today with its president advocate Nazir Ahmad Ronga in chair, paid rich tributes to Shaheed Mirwaiz , Shaheed Lone and martyrs of Hawal. The Association reiterated the pledge to take the martyrs’ mission to its logical end. The meeting decided that all lawyers would abstain from work on May 21, as a token of respect to martyrs.

Paying rich tributes to Shaheed-i-Milat and Shaheed-i-Hurriyat, the National Conference chief patron Dr Farooq Abdullah, President Omar Abdullah and general secretary Sheikh Nazir Ahmad described them great sons of soil who sacrificed their precious lives for cause of people.Dr Farooq Abdullah, according NC statement, said Shaheed Mirwaiz had spared no efforts in spreading religious education in the Valley. He said his (Mirwaiz’s) martyrdom had created a void which was very difficult to fill. “Shaheed Mirwaiz always put in his untiring efforts for the abiding friendship and amity of India and Pakistan. He also worked hard for the unity among all leaders of state,” he said.

Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Forum (JKDF), at a meeting held here today with its president Pandit Bushan Bazaz in chair, paid glowing tributes to the memory of Shaheed-e-Milat Mirwaiz Moulna Muhammad Farooq. Speaking at the meeting, Bazaz described him a great religious scholar and selfless political leader who always during his life time launched a relentless struggle for eradication of social evils. He said late Mirwaiz would be long remembered for his innovative spirit, distinctive idiom and unfailing humility and sacrifice of his life for the cause of people.

Paying rich tributes to Shaheed-i-Milat and Shaheed-i-Hurriyat, the All India Shromani Akali Dal Jammu Kashmir president Dr Joginder Singh described them great leaders who always fostered Hindu-Muslim-Sikh unity. Employees United Front (EUF) president, Bashir Ahmad Ganai, in his tributes to Shaheed-e-Millat described him a great Islamic scholar and a bold leader of Kashmiris. He said his religious, social and political services would be remembered by the people of Kashmir.-SANA
