ISLAMABAD: Minister for Women Development Nazar Muhammad Gondal has said the government is committed to ensure equal participation of women in all fields to enable them to play their due role in the development process. He was addressing a function to launch “Gender Constraints Study Focusing on Female Health Services Providers” in Islamabad today. It was jointly arranged by Ministry of Health and Women Development.
The Minister said that policies will be formulated to ensure women induction particularly in health, education and other social sectors so that they could serve the women folk in a better way. The other speakers highlighted the major features of the study and aspects of national gender reform action plan aimed at improving the status of the women.
According to other news The government of Sindh has prepared gender bias ending draft bill which could make the women harassment liable to punishments of 30 days jail and a penalty of Rs0.5 million. Member Sindh Assembly, Hamaira Alwani on Friday told newsmen the bill would be presented in the upcoming provincial assembly session. She said that the bill aimed at providing protection to the women outside their houses, at their working places and offices.
The bill envisages punishments of 30 days imprisonment besides a fine of Rs0.5 million for harassing women. The affected women would complain to the Civil District Judge, who through the Nazim of the concerned Union Council would send this complaint to the head of the relevant organization or office, which in turn would submit its inquiry report within 30 days by constituting a three-member committee.-SANA
