Suleman Taseer will be next Governor Punjab

Suleman Taseer a nephew of famous poet Faiz Ahmad Faiz owns Daily Times newspaper and Business Plus Tv channel. Suleman Taseer began his career as a charter accountant and later joined Pakistan People’s Party in 1978. He remained loyal to Benazir Bhutto. His appointment is taking place at a juncture when PPP’s main coalition partner Mian Nawaz Sharif decided to leave the Federal government but retaining Punjab government. Suleman Taseer was a member of caretaker cabinet prior to Febuary 18 vote.

This correspondent spoke to him on Monday last when he was in Egypt but he was not aware of his next responsibility. Salmaan Taseer has been appointed as new Governor of Punjab in place of Lt. Gen.(r) Khalid Maqbool. According to sources, PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari approved Taseer’s name for the Governorship of Punjab in place of Lt. Gen. (r) Khalid Maqbool in a high level meeting.

The change is being seen as a step to further boost PPP’s role in the Punjab politics. Salmaan Taseer will be sworn-in as Governor on Saturday. Suleman Raseer married twice.He had afling with famous Indian journalist Tavleen Singh.Both lived togather in London during mid 80s.Suleman has a love child from Tavleen Singh.

Former Federal Minister Salmaan Taseer who has been appointed as new Governor of Punjab will take oath of his office here at 6:00 PM on Friday. Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) will administer oath to the new Governor Punjab. PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari had approved Taseer’s name for the Governorship of Punjab in place of Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Khalid Maqbool at a high level meeting. The change is being seen as a step to further boost PPP’s role in the Punjab politics. Salmaan Taseer will be sworn-in as Governor on Friday.
