APDM for PM executive order for judges’ restoration

ISLAMABADM: All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) has demanded of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to issue executive order for the restoration of judges. Addressing a joint news conference after the APDM leaders meeting on Wednesday, Qazi Hussain Ahmad, Mehmood Khan Achakzai and Imran Khan announced to convene National Conference to organize strategy about the restoration for all judges including Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and impeachment of President Pervez Musharraf.

They unanimously demanded to impeach President Musharraf and declared all measures of November as unconstitutional and illegal and restore Supreme Court its pre-November 3 position. To question, Qazi Hussain Ahmad said that they announced movement to get freedom from the US. He said that there was no consensus between Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari over judges issue in their meeting in Dubai and demanded of Nawaz Sharif to adopt clear stance.

On this occasion, the Convener of the APDM Mehmood Khan Achakzai said that the alliance wanted the supremacy of parliament, restoration of deposed judges as well as constitution on the position of October 12, 1999 and halt interference of army in politics of Pakistan. He said that a committee has been constituted to call the National Conference to discuss the issues being confronted by the nation i.e. judicial crisis, inflation, atta crisis, water crisis, energy crisis, and law and order situation.

He said that media persons, lawyers, intellectuals and professors would be invited to attend this conference. The Convener APDM said that they have not the objective to come into the force but to struggle for the rights of public and against dictatorship. “We want the rule of public. We want a system where foreign policy would be formulated without any external pressure,” he added. He said that APDM had a view that two third majority is not the requirement to restore the deposed judges. Mehmood Khan Achakzai also expressed his concern over the surging rate of street crime and regarding missing people.

He said that several people in Balochistan have been missing for a long period which is really challenging for the government.APDM meeting, he said, also expressed concern over the water shortage in Sindh which is compelling the tenants to sell their lands at cheaper rates.
