ISLAMABAD: The Commonwealth has lifted the suspension of Pakistan from the grouping. This was announced by the Secretary General of the Commonwealth Kamalesh Sharma after a meeting of its key ministers in London on Monday. The Commonwealth had suspended membership of Pakistan after November 3 when the government imposed emergency in the country last year.

It has been a good sign for Pakistan, though there are few elements that are creating hurdles in the smooth functioning of the Governmental Machinery; It is important to note that Commonwealth canceled Pakistan’s Membership after the emergency was imposed by Musharraf on Novemebr 3, 2007. In lieu of this emergency he disposed several judges including the Chief Justice of Pakistan Ch. Iftikhar Muhammad Chuadry. These 69 judges have yet not been restored by the government thought newly elected govrnment has made promises promises to restored them.
