Maulana Gul Naseeb terms Taliban peace deal mere ‘drama’

HAZRO: Amir Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam Senator Maulana Gul Naseeb has termed the ongoing peace deal with Taliban as drama that lacks credibility. He was addressing ulema convention he said that the government should take steps to restore the judges and attend to all the important issues like inflation, power-crisis, unemployment and law and order. Lashing out at the mock peace deals with Taliban would never reach fruition as that lack will and representation on both sides. This statement has come at very crucial time when Government has started taking steps to initiate peace talks with Taliban.

Govt. warms up to negotiate peace with Taliban in Mardan
MARDAN: Government has started efforts to reach a peace deal with local Taliban here. District Nazim Mardan Himayatullah Mayar has convened session of the district government on Monday that would take stock of the prevailing law and order situation in the district and would set mode of negotiating peace deal with the local Taliban. Himayatullah Mayar had met Ms. Allen Trassey, an official of the American consulate in Peshawar in which the issue of Taliban insurgency was discussed but when contacted; District Nazim told SANA that there was no peace negotiation with Taliban on the cards as the matter was out of the Jurisdiction of the district government that was being pursued by the provincial government. It is also to be borne in mind that NWFP government concluded peace deal with local Taliban in Swat few days ago that was official announced.

Mardan authority to hold peace talks with Taliban
ISLAMABAD: Mardan District government has summoned an important meeting on Monday to adopt plan for holding dialogue and peace agreement with local Taliban, sources said. The local government took decision after the peace talks with Taliban in Swat district. Nazims of various UCs and officials of law enforcement agencies would take part in the meeting. Talking to SANA, Mardan District Nazim, Hamayatullah Mayar termed the report about the meeting about the talks or truce agreement with local Taliban as it is a provincial government issue. It may be noted that the government singed peace agreement with local Taliban in Swat district. Talks are under way with Taliban to restore peace and stability in the province.
