ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said Pakistan wants resolution of the Kashmir issue according to the UN resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people. Speaking in a CNN-IBN programme, he described Kashmir as the core issue in bilateral relations between Pakistan and India.The prime minister said political forces will be taken into confidence on the Kashmir policy of the new government adding, “We have to take every one on board in confidence.” He said we want to build trust and confidence to create a facilitating environment to resolve the issue.
He said trust and confidence could be built through people-to-people contacts as well as trade, commercial and cultural ties between the two countries. To a question, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said Pakistan and India were cooperating in energy sector through Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project.
The ministerial level talks between Pakistan and India will be held in Islamabad on the 21st of this month. According to media reports an official of Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi on Sunday said the repatriation issue of Pakistani prisoners is expected to figure during the talks. He said that New Delhi did not respond to Islamabad’s repeated requests for provision of complete information regarding Pakistani prisoners languishing in Indian jails.
