Federal cabinet discusses law& order, power crisis, wheat issue

ISLAMABAD: The meeting of federal cabinet presided over by Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has been concluded. The Cabinet discussed overall law & order situation in the country besides power crises, wheat procurement and other important issues. Replying to a question, Sherry Rehman expressed the confidence that the by-elections will be held in June.

He said PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and she himself met Prime Minister yesterday and discussed the issue and agreed that by-elections should be held in June. She said that both the coalition partners have openly condemned the postponement of by-elections. To a question, the Information Minister said rising oil, and food prices at international level impacted Pakistan severely. She said in the budget government will give some relief to the people. For this purpose the government working to prepare such scheme.

Answering a question, she said will generate hydel power through small dams besides using alternative resources to generate energy. She said the cabinet has approved MOUs with Iran on energy cooperation, with Serbia on avoidance of double taxation and with Zimbabwe for armed forces deputation. She said the cabinet decided that a committee will be formed for implementation of MOUs.-SANA
