Local Taliban resume activities in Swat

MINGORA: After suspension of dialogue between the government and Tehrek-e-Taliban Pakistan in tribal areas and NWFP, the local Taliban have once again become active in Swat. They have set ablaze a music center in Matta area. They have also warned barbers and owners of music centers to immediately stop their anti-Sharia acts in the area. The Taliban have claimed responsibility for the incident in Matta. The spokesman of TTP, Maulvi Omar, told Deewa Radio that the Taliban in Swat were their allies.

He said: Our allied Taliban have put on fire a shop near Matta. The government had raided the area and a mosque on Friday in Charbagh. One person was also arrested. After that the dialogue was suspended. So the Taliban committed acted as a reaction and to make their existence felt”.

Security personnel were once again put on alert after the incident. Meanwhile, unidentified armed men have shot dead a police official in Charbagh area. The local administration has confirmed killing of the policeman, whose name was Hassan Gul. Investigation in this regard has been kicked off.-SANA
