ISLAMABAD: Justice (R) Tariq Mehmood has expressed his optimism about the issue of restoration of deposed judged under the spirit of the Murree Declaration after the latest talks in Dubai between PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PML (N) President Mian Shehbaz Sharif. “We have accepted the Murree declaration and the expiry date of which is 30th of April, so we have to wait till the last moment. We are hopeful but simultaneously there is anxiety and there were certain reservations and concern that time is running out and even now conduct of both the parties is that since Mr. Zardari was stuck up there, therefore, he has called his law minister and the other parties to Duabi,” he said while talking to a TV channel.
He said the members of the lawyers community had a consultations with the leadership of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz and we are waiting to meet Mr. Zardari after his arrival from Dubai to consult him also on the matter. “Let us hope for the best and signals are that there will definitely be positive decision. I mean we should not forget even Prime Minister’s statement in Mianwali so we are hopeful and lets us wait.”
At this stage it is difficult and one thing is clear that I am not since at the moment holding and representative office, so I am not in a position to give any statement but in any case this has to be decided by the lawyers leaders as a whole not by any individual, he said.-SANA
