ISLAMABAD: Iran’s president Mehmood Ahmedinijad will arrive in Islamabad tomorrow to meet his Pakistani counterpart President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani. The meetings are scheduled to be held in Islamabad on Monday to discuss the multi-billion gas pipeline project between Iran, Pakistan and India as well as bilateral, regional and international issues.
Iranian PressTV reports that Ahmadinejad’s visit will be the first by a foreign head of state to Pakistan since the new coalition government came into office in Islamabad. The Iranian president will discuss with Pakistani leaders the $7.5 billion gas pipeline project, in which India has shown some renewed interest. Ahmadinejad will make an official stop-over at Islamabad before proceeding to Indian and Sri Lanka.-SANA
