MARDAN: A blast in Mardan left an ASI and two other killed and 22 injured, including 16 policemen, on Friday morning. The car bomb explosion left three killed including police ASI, Farrukh Saeed, a citizen Sher Muhammad and a child standing by road. While 22 persons including 16 policemen present in the police station barrack were also injured. The explosion occurred at 6: 00 A.M. near a police station in Bekatganj market of Mardan city. Preliminary investigation report suggests that explosives were planted in a car.
Three of the injured were in critical conditions; they were rushed to Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar. Mardan DIG, Syed Akhtar Hussain Shah told a private TV channel that some 40/50 kg of explosives were planted in a car parked at Bekatganj market near city police station. He said that investigation into the matter was going on.
Local Taliban claim responsibility of Mardan blast
MARDAN: Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility of blast in Mardan that left three killed and several injured Friday morning. According to TTP spokesman, Maulvi Umer, the blast was carried out to avenge the killing of Tehreek-e-Taliban Mardan leader Hafiz Saeed-ul-Haq by Mardan police. Maulvi Umer said announcement by movement’s head Baitullah Mehsood to stop violent activities in the area was still in place.
PM strongly condemn explosion in Mardan
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has strongly condemned the bomb explosion in Mardan in which three persons were killed and twenty-six others injured. He said such cowardice acts of violence would not deter our determination to fight the menace of terrorism. The perpetrators of this heinous crime, he added, would be brought before law, he added. The Prime Minister directed the provincial government and the concerned agencies to take care of the injured and their families.
