Five including Mehsud declared PO in Bhutto murder case

RAWALPINDI: The Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) has declared five accused, who were blamed for assignation of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, including Baitullah Mahud as proclaimed offenders as proclaimed offenders. The ATC No.1 declared the accused Baitullah Mehsud, Qari Ismail, Ikram Ullah, Abaad ur Rehman and Qari Faiz as proclaimed offenders due to their consistent non appearance before the court in the case. , here on Monday

However, the five accused including Hassnain Gull, Rafaqat, Aitzaz Shah, Sher Zaman and Abdul Rashid were produced before the judge of ATC No.1, Ch. Habib ur Rehman, in tight security arrangements in the premises and surrounding areas of the court.The court fixed May 10 for next hearing in the murder case of former Chairperson of PPP Mohterma Benazir Bhutto.

Former Premier and PPP Chairperson Mohterma Benazir Bhutto was martyred in a suicide attack soon after, she addressed a public rally in connection with the elections campaign at Liaqat Bagh in Rawalpindi on 27 December last year. The learned judge Ch. Habib ur Rehman also ordered the authorities concerned to publish posters and advertisement of five accused who failed to appear before the court. Leader of local Taliban in South Waziristan Bait Ullah Mahsood, Ikram ullah and others are also wanted in RA Bazar and Civil lines suicide attacks in Rawalpindi.

Earlier, the court during the last hearing had issued non- bailable arrest warrants r Bait Ullah Mahsood with the direction to produce the accused in R A Bazar suicide attack before the court. Meanwhile, a penal of four lawyers including Rauf Fazal Khan, Jhanzeb Khan, Naseer Ullah Tanoli and Waleed Kahn advocates submitted their documents before the ATC, as defence lawyers for Hassnain Gull, Rafaqat, Aitzaz Shah, Sher Zaman and Abdul Rashid in Benazir assassination case. The defence lawyers also moved bail applications of Aitzaz shah and Abdul Rashid and pleaded the court for trail of the underage accused in the juvenile court.-SANA
