ISLAMABAD: Turkish foreign minister Ali Babacan has said that Turkey will continue to stand by Pakistan in its determined fight against all the challenges the country is facing. Addressing a joint press conference along with his Pakistani counterpart here on Saturday, he said all Pakistani authorities and relevant state institutions and all segments of the society were determined to join their hands to overcome the challenges faced by the country.
He congratulated the people and the government of Pakistan on the holding of free, fair transparent and peaceful elections. It demonstrated the commitment of the people of Pakistan to democracy, he added. He said his visit to Pakistan will further improve bilateral relations in the multi-dimensional fields and understanding between the two countries on various international issues. He said Turkey was closely cooperating with Pakistan at various international fora. He said geo-strategic location was providing a huge ability to Pakistan to influence political and economic dynamics of the South and Central Asia. Pakistan was a capable country and had the strength to overcome all the challenges, the Turkish minister said.
Babacan said that both the countries had decided to have joint working group which was already started with the tripartite mechanism and already two rounds of meeting had been made, adding, “We are hoping to have the third round of meeting to be held soon, which could be followed by a tripartite summit.” Babacan praised Pakistan for its role in fight against the menace.-SANA
