He said the SAARC has entered the third decade and has come a long way but much more is needed for the socio-economic uplift of the people and enhancing people to people contact to improve the lives of the people in South Asia.
Mr. Gilani said as SAARC embarked on SAFTA there is a great need for promoting intra-regional trade and the business community has a vital role to play for achieving the goals. He said it is imperative to provide a level playing field to all member states as by doing this Free Trade Agreement between the member states would help usher a new era of development and growth.
He said the government is committed to promote economic freedom and it is determined to play the role of facilitator instead of regulator for the investors.
