MULTAN: Police officials claimed that they had controlled the violence in Multan and dispersed the angry mob that set a bank, scores of vehicles and motorbikes on fire. According to the details, Police resorted to aerial firing and baton charge while using teargas to disperse the angry mob that set the record and furniture, vehicles and different sections of WAPDA office on fire.
Hundreds of agitated laborers and others came on to the streets protesting against prolonged electric outages in the city burning half a dozen motorcycles and a dozen bicycles and a building of a bank on Khanewal road. More than 2000 baton wielded workers and owners of Power loom attacked WAPDA office in Multan and hurled stones besides burning the furniture. Inspector General Police Punjab Azhar Hassan Nadeem has said strict action would be taken against those who were involved in violence in Multan. He said Additional IG-RPO was present along with heavy police contingent and many miscreants were arrested.-SANA
