ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas (KANA), Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that the government would extend all out cooperation for the speedy development of AJK aimed at upgrading the living standard of the people.
He said this while talking to the Prime Minister of AJK Sardar Attique Ahmad Khan who called on him here Saturday to discuss matters pertaining to ongoing development programmes being carried out in AJK with the cooperation of the Government of Pakistan. The Minister said that the Kashmiri people were looking upon the world community to press India for implementing the UN’s restoration on Kashmir adopted more than 60 years ago, which allowed them right of self-determination.
He said that people to people contacts on both side of Kashmir would improve the Confidence Building Measures (CBM) being taken by Pakistan and India and suggested that speedy process of formalities of Srinagar-Muzaffarabad Bus Service would provide great relief passengers. The Minister said that early solution of Kashmir issue would not only boost the regional cooperation in diversified fields but also bring rapid socio-economic uplift of its people.
The AJK Premier felicitated the Minister on assuming the portfolio of the Ministry of KANA. He briefed the Minister regarding ongoing development projects including the uprising of Mangla Dam Reservoir. He said that early completion of socio-economic schemes being undertaken in AJK would not only bring revolutionary change in the life style of the people but also help alleviate poverty and unemployment problems.-SANA
