MIANWALI: Former federal minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Sher Afgan Khan Niazi said here Thursday that reinstatement of judges was impossible according to constitution and law of the land. He was talking to media prior of his departure for Islamabad. There could be one chief justice of Pakistan and that was Adbul Hameed Dogar who had taken oath of the office under the constitution, he claimed.
He said that Syed Sharifuddin Pirzada had made this point clear who was a seasoned jurist and constitutionalist. Accusing Sharif brothers of physical assault on him in Lahore, he said that they had introduced ‘law of the jungle’ in their previous tenure and engineered several cases against the former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari.
They were now replicating the same culture even before forming the Punjab government, he lamented. Dr Sher Afgan thanked Chaudhry Aitizaz Ahsan and Justice Retired Tariq Mahmood who expressed solidarity with him. The seasoned lawyer expressed his apprehension while analyzing the current scenario and said that the incumbent regime would hardly complete its tenure.-SANA
