PM calls on Musharraf

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani called on President Pervez Musharraf this afternoon here (Wednesday) and discussed the prevailing political situation in the country and other matters of national importance. The measures being taken to eradicate extremism and terrorism were also discussed.

The two leaders reviewed various steps initiated by the government to improve the socio economic condition and welfare of the people. The President and the Prime Minister stated that the people wished to see the country move forward on the path of progress and the solution of their problems to bring peace and harmony. They vowed that subversive elements would not be allowed to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the country.

The President and the Prime Minister also strongly condemned the recent acts of rowdyism in Karachi and Lahore where former Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Raheem and Former Federal Minister Dr.Sher Afgan Niazi were assaulted and inhumanely treated. Terming the incidents as totally unacceptable they directed the concerned authorities to carry out an immediate investigation to identify and ascertain those responsible and bring them to justice.-SANA
