Dr. Rice invites Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi to visit United States

ISLAMABAD:Secretary of State of the United States Tuesday called Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mahmud Qureshi and extended to him an official invitation to visit the USA. Foreign Office Spokesman Muhammad Sadiq told ‘Arab News’.”Dr.Rice called our foreign minister had facilitated him on making Pakistan’s Foreign Minister.She formally invited Foreign Minister Shah Mahmud Qureshi to pay an official visit to the USA”.

Pakistan and USA are are key allies in global war against terrorism. Sadiq said ,”our Foreign Minister also received a call call from the Secretary General of British Commonwealth Don Micknon. He discussed modalities of Pakistan’s re-entry into British Commonwealth other than facilitating him for restoration of democracy in Pakistan”.

British Commonwealth had suspended Pakistan’s membership after military take over and later it softened its stand. But after imposition of state of emergency in Pakistan on November 3,2007, the Commonwealth closed its doors to Pakistan. Muhammad Sadiq further told ‘Arab News’, the Foreign Minister will accompany President Musharraf during his forthcoming visit to the People’ Republic of China”.
