ISLAMABAD: Federal cabinet which is scheduled to meet today will take up important issues including restoration of judges and release of Dr A Q Khan Wednesday. The cabinet which is to meet at 10 am at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat under the chair of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has a heavy agenda before it. It would be the second meeting of the cabinet since the new government took over.
As the cabinet has many a new faces, its sessions are likely to be brain storming and lively. According to sources, Minister for Law and Justice Farooq H Naik will brief the cabinet on the procedure going to be adopted for the restoration of the deposed judges. The detention of nuclear scientist Dr A Q Khan will be another topic of discussion and implications of his release from detention would be considered at length.
The cabinet will discuss the 100 days agenda of the new government and ways to its speedy implementation. PEMRA law and restrictions on media will also come under discussion. The cabinet will also consider a set of austerity measures to be adopted in government offices.
Start of new educational year from April or September will be another hot issue before the cabinet. Similarly, similar curriculum for government and private schools will also be discussed.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sherry Rehman will brief the media about the decision of the cabinet.-SANA
