ISLAMABAD: Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that the federal government was taking concrete steps to bring the Northern Areas at par with the rest of the country. This he stated at a meeting with advisers of Northern Areas Legislative Assembly here on Monday.
The minister said that that the area would be purged of the sectarian hostilities and law and order would be brought at its best. He said that all genuine problems of the people of Northern Areas would be resolved.
The advisors congratulated the minister on assuming responsibilities as minister. They apprised him of their problems especially pertaining to forests. One member demanded royalty of Diamer Bhasha dam. The advisors also said that they were powerless and demanded some powers. The advisors included Noor ul Ain, Mirza Hussain, Ibrahim Sanai, Abdul Qadoos, Abdul Hameed and (Capt) Sikandar Ali.-SANA
