ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has categorically stated that the present government will restore the constitution, strengthen all institutions, ensure provincial autonomy and come upto the expectations of people with regard to independence of judiciary and freedom of media.
“We would restore the constitution, strengthen all the institutions and ensure provincial autonomy. We would come up to the expectations of the people. These expectations are that all institutions should be independent, judiciary should be independent and media should be free”, the Prime Minister said in a television message on the death anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
“We would also carry forward the mission of upholding the supremacy of the Parliament”, he added. Prime Minister Gilani said Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who was a leader of international stature and a towering personality, was a name of an ideology, a mission and a movement. It was he who had given a unanimous constitution and made this country a Nuclear power, he said and added it was his (Bhutto’s) personality which brought about a change in the system.
“Today it is imperative upon us to fulfill his mission. It is our national obligation to protect the constitution which Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had given us as a sacred document.” The Prime Minister assured the nation that “Inshallah we will carry forward the mission of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and our leader Benazir Bhutto.” He said, the rule of the people was the dream of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and “Inshallah we would establish the rule of the people in the country.”
“If there is any source of power and strength after Allah Almighty it is the people. We would promote the people’s rule. Inshallah we would represent the aspirations of the people and make this country stronger”, he added. The Prime Minister called upon the nation to pray for Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto who have sacrificed their lives for the rights of the people.-SANA
