ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas, Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that settlement of Kashmir issue would not only prevail peace and tranquility in the region but also bring socio-economic prosperity of its peoples. He expressed these views while addressing the senior officials of the ministry at a briefing here Tuesday.
The minister said that the Pakistan would continue to extend all-out moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people for the cause of their self-determination. Qamar Zaman Kaira said that collective efforts would be made to achieve the prime minister’s 100-days programme which would mitigate the sufferings of the common-man.
In the detailed briefing about the role and objectives of the ministry, the minister was told that all-out efforts were being made for the socio-economic development of the AJK and Northern Areas. It was highlighted that 677 development schemes would be completed in AJK at a cost of Rs. 7600 million during the currant fiscal year whereas Rs. 3800 million would be spent on 563 development projects in Northern Areas. Secretary KANA Salman Siddique and senior officials of the ministry attended the meeting.-SANA
