RAWALPINDI: At a simple but impressive ceremony held at the Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital here Monday morning, a special ward dedicated to Col (Retd) Amjad Hussain Sayed and Mrs Samin Sayed, parents of Senator Mushahid Hussain was unveiled. The special plaque commemorates their contribution to humanitarian work and services. Speaking on the occasion, both Col and Mrs Sayed appreciated the contribution of the hospital towards the suffering humanity.
Col (Retd) Amjad Hussain Sayed, who is a prominent worker of the Pakistan Movement, also received a Gold Medal in 1997 from the Pakistan Movement Trust for his contribution towards the freedom struggle, including his participation in the historic 1937 Lucknow session and 1940 Lahore session of the All India Muslim League.
Speaking on the occasion, Senator Mushahid Hussain said that unfortunately the Pakistani elite was lagging behind in charitable and humanitarian work and our elite has become greedy and grabby, since they always want to get something from the state without giving anything in return to society. He urged the affluent people to learn from the people like Gen Jahan Dad as well as prominent American givers of charity like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet who have given over 30 billion dollars in charity towards the poor of the third world.-SANA
