ISLAMABAD: The nation will celebrate Pakistan Day today with a renewed pledge to make efforts for prosperity and development of the country in accordance with ideas of the Founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. The day will dawn with 31 gun salute at the federal capital and 21 gun salute at all the provincial capitals.
Special prayers will be offered for the integrity, solidarity and prosperity of the country, unity of Muslim Ummah and the wellbeing of the people after Fajr prayers. It will be closed holiday and the national flag will be hoisted at all principal public and private buildings.
The important feature of the day will be armed forces parade to be held at Jinnah Sports Stadium in Islamabad. The JF-17 Thunder Fighters manufactured jointly by Pakistan and China will also take part in the fly past on the occasion. A special investiture ceremony will be held at the Awan-e-Sadr where President Pervez Musharraf will decorate civil and military awards to a number of personalities in recognition of their meritorious services.
To facilitate commuters, special traffic arrangements have been made on the occasion of National Day Parade. Traffic plan has been publicised in electronic and print media to facilitate those coming to witness the parade.
Guests are advised to follow the markings (coloured arrows) fixed along roads, indicating the route to their parking areas / enclosures. Organizers have requested all invitees for 23rd March Parade to reach the venue before time for smooth conduct of administrative checks. All routes will be closed for spectators at 08:30 am.-SANA
