Political parties frustrate dictatorial forces by reaching consensus on PM: Fazl

ISLAMABAD: Jamiat-e-Ulma Islam (F) Chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman said Saturday that election of Prime Minister by all the political parties after reaching consensus will disappoint the dictatorial forces. Talking to SANA Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman said that the show of unity by the political parties in Pakistan was unprecedented.

He said that no confrontation takes place if institutions are run in accordance with the constitution. Confrontation took place when a step against the constitution is taken, he added. The JUI leader said that bad traditions were established in 2002. He said that National Reconciliation was a positive step. However, he added that success depends on right decisions and not on heavy majority. He said that Pakistan people’s Party Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari had told him that MQM was ready to support candidate of PPP for premiership.

Responding to a question he said as far as tradition is concerned cabinet and Prime Minister do not take oaths in a single ceremony. He said that such an oath will establish the impression as the federal cabinet was on the discretion of the president. The JUI chief said that in accordance with parliamentary traditions the Prime minister should first announce the cabinet.

It is pertinent to mention that to take the allied parties in confidence over its talks with Muttahida Qaumi Movement; PPP has started contacting them. In this connection Asif Ali Zardari contacted leader of JUI Maulana Fazlurehman.-SANA
