ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League (Q) on Thursday announced that it might field former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Ilahi for premiership’s contest. Talking to media, PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said that Mr. Ilahi had support of 51 candidates in the National assembly adding that most likely he would participate in race for premiership. He said that Mr. Ilahi would be the leader of the opposition in the new parliament as PML-Q will play positive role of opposition.
The Q league chief rejected that withdrawal of Farooq Sattar candidacy was a serious setback to his party. To a question, Shjaat said that he also wants freedom of judiciary but reinstatement of Chaudhry Iftikhar will not be suitable as he had indulged fully in politics. Earlier, MQM spokesman and MNA Haider Abbas Rizvi told BBC that a delegation was going to Islamabad to meet Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.
Responding to a question Mr. Rizvi said that they will consider participation in the government in center if they were asked. He said that MQM induction in the government will be a point to ponder for PML-N and not for his party. It is pertinent to mention that APDM had approved an agreed resolution that no party will make alliance with MQM.-SANA
