ISLAMABAD: Dismissing the allegations that Kashmir struggle was a sponsored one, Altaf Hussain Wani, the spokesman of APHC (M) (Pakistan and Azad Kashmir) has said “Kashmir freedom struggle” was an indigenous one and that Indian denial of the right of self-determination to the people of Kashmiris has forced them into the armed struggle.
Wani was speaking at a seminar organised by the Interfaith International here. “India has deployed 700,000 troops to curb the just struggle of Kashmiris for plebiscite. The torture, rape, extrajudicial killing and arbiratery detention is the order of the day in Kashmir,” he said.
Meanwhile, speaking to representatives of various NGOs at Geneva, Wani welcomed the US State Department report on the human rights situation in India. He said Indian armed forces and its agencies are engaged in “gross and systematic human rights violations” in Kashmir.
“Most of the minorties in India do not enjoy the rights being enshrined to them by the Indian constitution. Muslims, Christians, Sikhs and Dalits are the victims of Indian Hindu majority who ignore them at every nook and corner,” Wani added.-SANA
