ISLAMBAD: Chairman Pukhtunkhawa Milli Awami Party and APDM leader Mehmood Khan Achakzai has said the country is standing at a vulnerable point and we would have to take every step cautiously.
In an interview with a private TV channel, he said the people of Pakistan had given their decision but the situation did not change as the country was under a permanent martial law and four Generals were ruling in the form of National Security Council. He requested every one including Gen Musharraf not to make the politics of Pakistan a chess game as any wrong move would jolt the country’s foundations.
Achakzai said that for the first time in the history of Pakistan almost all the parties developed a consensus on the issues of restoration of constitution and judiciary as well as ending the role of intelligence agencies in the politics. He added the genie of independent judiciary would not go back to the bottle now. He said that 68 per cent of the judiciary refused to take oath under the PCO that was unprecedented in the history of the country.
He said the deposed chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry who was detained along with his children was accused of speaking truth. Responding to a question, he said that the General had accepted that the step taken on November 2 was unconstitutional.-SANA
