ISLAMABAD: President Abdullah Gul of Turkey late Tuesday telephoned President Pervez Musharraf and offered his heartfelt condolences on behalf of the government and the people of Turkey over the tragic loss of life in the terrorist attacks in Lahore. He said the Turkish people share the sorrow and grief of the people of Pakistan and stand united with them.
He also availed the opportunity to congratulate the President for holding fair, free, transparent and peaceful elections in Pakistan and expressed the hope that future government would work in harmony with President Musharraf for strengthening democracy in Pakistan and for the country’s progress and prosperity.
The Turkish President said they were looking forward to working with the new elected government in Pakistan and expressed the hope that deep rooted brotherly ties between the two countries would be taken to new heights in all spheres of life. President Musharraf thanked the Turkish leader for the good wishes and said that mutually beneficial multifaceted relations would be further boosted.-SANA
