ISLAMABAD: Commenting on the election campaign of different political parties, Senator Dilawar Abbas has said that banners and hoardings are not compatible with the sizes given in the code of conduct by the election Commission of Pakistan. Talking to a private TV channel, he said that efforts should continue to bring the political parties and their workers to follow the code of conduct in letter and spirit.
“The Election Commission invited all political parties. Some parties sent written comment while three or four parties went there. The PPP acknowledged but it did not send representatives in the meeting,” he said.
He said the efforts of the Election Commission seem futile as neither public nor the leadership are interested in them. However, it is wrong that you object every thing but you participate in the elections. I think there is need of building national consensus, otherwise, there will not be no benefit, he said and added that the Election Commission should take notice of any violation of the code of conduct. -SANA
