ISLAMABAD: Senior Vice President of Pakistan Peoples Party Makhdoom Amin Fahim has said that all steps taken by Benazir Bhutto were intended to fully restore democracy in the country and because of her efforts Pervez Musharraf relinquished the office of the Chief of the Army Staff.
“We feel deeply grieved for having lost our dynamic leader but keeping the spirit alive which she had rekindled mainly for the cause of democracy we are going to the polls and if free and fair elections are held we would be mustering heavy support of the masses, he said while talking to a private TV channel.
To a question about the candidate for the office of Prime Minister, he said it has already been decided by Benazir Bhutto by nominating him as the candidate and was endorsed by the cochairman of the party Asif Ali Zardari while addressing a news conference on the occasion of Soyem of Benazir Bhutto. “We would decide this matter in a democratic manner. There are no differences within our party as we make all our decisions with due consultation and understanding,” he said.

He said the spirit of reconciliation initiated by Benazir Bhutto before ending her several years of exile with military establishment, will continue to honnour her words.-SANA
