Rabbani asks for Standing Committee meeting to decide fate of PIA workers

ISLAMABAD: In the wake of growing concern that four to five thousands employees of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) would be terminated, leader of the opposition in Senate Mian Raza Rabbani Saturday wrote a letter to Chairman Standing Committee on Defence and Defence production Nisar A Memon to convene the committee’s meeting to deliberate on the issue.

Rabbani expressed concern about the termination of four to five thousand employees from PIA by quoting some credible information. The Opposition leader alleged in the letter that the present care taker government is also following the steps of Muslim League (Q) by adopting anti-lobour policies.

He said that instead of controlling extravagances of the high officials of PIA, there are growing fears that the authorities planning to terminate the poor workers. He asked for the session of the standing committee for defense to discuss the issue and demanded that high officials of PIA should also be invited to the session of the standing committee.-SANA
