ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Television Corporation (PTVC) earned a record advertising business of more that Rs 1.1 billion during the last six month, registering an increase of 46 percent as compared to the same period during the previous year. This was disclosed in a meeting of PTVC Board of Directors here on Tuesday. Federal Information Secretary Syed Anwar Mahmood who is also chairman of the PTVC presided over the meeting. The meeting reviewed the financial health of PTVC and commended the management over its performance.
Managing Director Yousaf Baig Mirza informed the meeting that due to better management and marketing efforts, the PTV has again become a profit-earning organization. He said during the first six months of the current financial year, there is also an increase of 15 percent in the license fee. He told the meeting that the targets set for the first half of the financial year have been successfully achieved, which shows that the financial health of the organization has been fully restored through better programming resulting in larger viewer ship and higher advertising.
Addressing the meeting the chairman, PTVC Syed Anwar Mahmood appreciated the performance of the institution and said that despite non-airing of Pakistan-India Cricket Series and 20/20 World Cup last year, PTV’s marketing and sales departments showed commendable performance. The Board of Directors while appreciating the performance of PTVC directed the management to try to secure the rights of live coverage of the major sports events.-SANA
