ISLAMABAD: A delegation from Gujrat University, headed by visiting Professor for Foreign Faculty Javeed Sajjad Ahmad, held a meeting with Federal Minister for Population Welfare Prof Dr A J Khan in connection with the issues on population aging challenges.
The delegation apprised the Federal Minister about their work and studies on population aging in Pakistan. The delegation also discussed the problems faced by the elderly in details in the country. It was also discussed what has been done in Pakistan and other countries in this respect and what can be done in Pakistan in future for the help of elderly. The minister appreciated their proposals, suggested by the delegation for the elevation of status for elder people in financial and social perspective. It was agreed that a national seminar on population aging challenges will be organized soon.
The Minister said that concept of Ministry of Population Welfare is not only confined to make mindset of the people for having smaller family but also to initiate the fruitful and practicable ideas related to the socio-economic welfare of the population as a whole in collaboration with the other social sectors ministries like education, health, social welfare, religious, environment, labour and manpower.-SANA
